Depress, is it growing inside you silently?

《Strings Attached》using visual and sound without dialogue, to tell the undetected depress inside every one of us. Every quiet night, will you come face to face with it, and confront with your true self? This film is present in experimental style, via the ballet dance’s everyday stress, to show her inner struggle. While the depress growing stronger and stronger inside of you, how should you deal with it? Will you go with the flow or confront it? Above and beneath the skin, which one is your true self? Or who do you want to be?

This short film is based on creator’s true experience. I am used to have conversation with myself while alone, to understand my true self. While an idea appear but with a difficulty in the way, should I come to turn with the reality, or stand still for this original intention. For most of the time, I give in to the reality, and that provide the depress inside me. The more I give in, the stronger it grows. I believe there are people having the same problem just like me, but how many of them understand this? Therefore, I hope I can let people who watch this short film, having the opportunity to clear their mind, and really get to know the true self both above and beneath the skin.

This thesis is divided into five chapters:

Chapter 1 Introduction: the creation background, origin, and how they relate to the creator. Chapter 2 Literature Review: relevant research about depression, and the importance of visual and sound in the film. Chapter 3 Creation Description: regarding the tone, way of expression and art design. Chapter4 Execution of the Film: concerning the pre-production, production and post-production period of the working process of this film. Chapter 5 Screening and Conclusion: the overview of the public screening and the feedback from the audience.

Finally, the attached are a complete script, income and expenditure statement, and information about the post-screening forum. Hope it can serve as a beneficial reference for students producing their graduation film.
