Growing up in the tropical island, Taiwan, I have the memories that are all about vari-ous fruits in my surroundings all year round. The northern regions of Taiwan are subtropi-cal, whereas the south is tropical, and the mountains regions are temperate. Considering the factors, we can draw a conclusion that varieties of fruits could grow in Taiwan, where known as Fruit Kingdom. Taiwan-fruits are the important visual symbols bound up with not only the society but also Taiwan dietetic culture.

The research re-annotates twelve Taiwan-fruits: apple, mango, guava, longan, pineap-ple, banana, litchi, wax apple, watermelon, persimmon, pomelo, and sugar apple through the Deconstructionism. The literature review focused on Taiwan-fruit and Deconstruction-ism. Taking the data as reference, I created a series of posters, named as “Track of Fruit Knife” and another hand drawing series of fruit dishes and serviettes, called as “Utensils and Fittings”.

Probing into the background and culture of Taiwan-fruit, I transferred the motion of cutting fruits to images for the series of “Track of Fruit Knife”. Emphasizing the frames and constructions of track motions, the cutting motions were represented by the dotted lines, which I designed by hand drawn illustration and graphic design. The series of “Uten-sils and Fittings” are based on the image elements of the first series. Both two series in-cluded motions from cutting to eating for increasing the practicability and the popularity. Through the thesis of denotation and connotation of Roland Barthes, I re-decoded my ex-perience about fruits, and redefined the meaning of fruits for linking the images and cul-ture.

Through the creation research, viewers could recall the memories of fruits and gain a greater understanding of Taiwan Fruits. Moreover, viewers also could have the emotional extension and imagination for Taiwan-fruit via the creations.
