【Abstract】
The famous Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) of Nationalism in Music in 19th century, rooted his love of Norwegian folk culture in his compositions during the era of rising nationalism. He dedicated himself to national music, and Norwegian folk music in his own compositions brought Norwegian music and culture to international consciousness.
“Piano Sonata in e minor, Op. 7, 1865” probed in this thesis is the only piano sonata in Edvard Grieg’s piano works. With refined lyrical sense in his works, he merged traditional German and Austrian music during his studies with the Norwegian folk as unique music techniques and art to his love for the motherland.
