The short film 311-PYE uses the scarcity of motorcycle parking in urban Taiwan as a metaphor for the protagonist Lin Guang’s inability to find a "place"—both materially and spiritually. Centering around the metaphor of “position,” the film explores how young people drift within the overcrowded structures of a highly urbanized Taiwanese society. The inspiration for the work stems from the creator’s personal experience upon first arriving in Taipei for graduate study. Beginning with an absurd encounter while searching for a parking space, the film interweaves themes of graduation anxiety and the tension between dreams and reality, unfolding into a narrative about those who have "no place." Lin Guang, a real estate agent whose job is to sell positions of belonging, ironically finds himself with none—in his career, friendships, or romantic life. He ultimately shares the fate of his motorcycle, "311-PYE," and is towed away. The film focuses on alienation and disconnection under capitalist society, reflecting on the imbalance between material and spiritual positioning. It also serves as both a summary of five years of cinematic education and a love letter to the city from the filmmaker.
