Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the most important composers of his time during the classical period, and his piano works are best represented by his piano sonatas. Sonatas first originated in the 16th century, a form of music that gradually matured throughout the classical period, becoming an important form of music that was composed by many classical composers.
This research will focus on Beethoven’s Piano Sonata, Op. 57. The first introductory chapter explains the motivation behind the research as well as the research methodology. The following second chapter is an overview of sonatas from the baroque period to the classical period, outlining Beethoven’s life and his piano sonatas. The third and fourth chapters include an analysis of the music and an interpretation of the performance.
