ABSTRACT

What would it flash into mind when you hear of an “earthworm”? Think of … a little poor thing which is selected and chosen, for bred and observation in science class in the elementary school? Or… an environmental protection warrior? A 17 years old young man says … he is an earthworm. Moreover is the one who insisted that the sense of justice, pursuing vainly and loving flying.

He is 邱俊瑋 who suffers Duchenne muscular dystrophy for 11 years. He physically stands by tools on the wheel chair. His cervical vertebra is out of shape fast because of the twisting. His cervical vertebra may move left and right a little bit, so that he could talking and seeing the whole world by half raising head. Under the blanket, there are atrophied and incapable feet and movable thumb and index finger of right hand.

This documentary film 「David’s Fantasy」is talking about 俊瑋’s specially philosophy of life. He has the dreams to create, to paint, to watch the animal channel of talking books. He likes to play jokes, to imitate, to sit on a special vehicle riding around, to discover the world, to go to the exhibition and to chat with people…He is busy but nothing about his disease which he never waste time to fight with; moreover, he lives with whole energy and martial arts . He says that life should be splendid.

「I might be limited by Duchenne muscular dystrophy physically but dreaming of mind」he said like an old saying. The extent of life depends on how people spread their sights; the depth of life depends on how the people expand their ambition; the splendid of life depends on how the people hold the faith in hands bravely.

Look at your extremities! They might not slender but healthy for sure. Let’s go! To take an adventure with this earthworm!
