This paper explored the personality of the heroine and pursued the goal of Catalani in music creation. The author first clarified the evolution of realism in literary, then traced back the overall evolutionary process from the Romanticism to the verismo opera. Through the segmental data about Catalani collected and the studies of many scholars on Catalani's letters and works, it was proposed to understand this composer by means of the articles about Catalani.

By analyzing and studying two arias, i.e. Ebben? Ne andrò lontana and Né Mai Dunque Avrò Pace in details, the author observed Catalani's requirements for the personality of the heroine and understood his opera creation style.
