During the 19th and 20th century of Martinu’s life time, many different cultures grew rapidly. Because of living aboard, Martinu’s works were deeply affected by foreign cultures. They were beyond the limitation and combined a number of different elements and music styles. The composing methods of Martinu were creative and vivid. He was commended as well as the others composers form Czech Republic, Smetana, Dvorak and Janacek. This research paper is going to focus on Martinu’s Cello Sonata No. 2.; the study has five chapters which includes introduction, Martinu’s life and composing style, the analysis of this Cello Sonata, explanation of the music and conclusion. Through this study, the readers may understand more about Martinu and his music and works.
