Home is always an important part of me while growing up. It is not only a place where my family can rest and live, but also an inconspicuous factory in my memory. These pieces of memories are the traces of my personal history, and I chain them together to create a strong emotional imagery in my printmaking artworks. The theme of this creative discourse is where I grew up: “Xin-Long Computer Embroidery Inc.”

Creating art is an outlet to express my inner feelings and memories. In the process of creation, I recollect different scenes and emotions from the past, and depict them with various viewpoints in my artworks. In the end, I am able to find the true meanings and values for home, and understand my deep longing for home.

This creative discourse includes five chapters:

Chapter One is the introduction, which covers motivation, purpose, the creative methods and areas, as well as terminology.

Chapter Two is the theoretical basis. This chapter includes home, memory, the art history, and geography.

Chapter Three is the creation practice. Based on the main theme: home, the contents (pieces from the memory) are formed. Then I use printmaking materials and intaglio techniques to express the art series “Safekeeping Memory.”

Chapter Four is the interpretation of the creation.

Chapter Five is the conclusion and my reflection on the process of creating “Safekeeping Memory.”
