Liszt’s middle piano work, Mephisto Waltz No.1, which combined with music, literature, and picture and had difficult skill, was composed in 1860.

This thesis contains four chapters: The research motivation and goal are introduced in Chapter 1. Liszt’s biography and his piano works are described in Chapter 2. The analyses and interpretation of Mephisto Waltz No.1 are illustrated in detail in Chapter 3. In Chapter 4, through the analyses of music form and structure, the musical spirit and compositional intension can be shown by performing.
