This Sonata, originally for Violin and Piano, was composed in 1900 and dedicated to Jacques Thibaud(1880-1953). It was premiered by Jacques Thibaud in 1901 and became one of the most famous works by Gabriel Pierné. Later he adapted this version to Flute and Piano.

In 2019, the author attended to Chao-che Liu’s recital in which her beautiful performance deeply attracted to the author. That’s the reason of choosing this topic of dissertation.

This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is Introduction. The second chapter is Biography of composer. The third chapter is Musical Analysis. The forth chapter is Interpretations. The final chapter is Conclusion.
