People always regard unfamiliar as weird things, and make a clear division between the normal and the abnormal. People normally judge the others in terms of their social status, age, religion, race, gender and sexuality. Among these, “sexuality” has always been a controversial issue causing turbulence in society.
When you talk about sex in Taiwan, people may keep away from talking about it and they might feel ashamed and shy because of traditional values that have been instilled into family and school. “The Rooftop” is my short film in the NTUA. This plot begins with a young boy who is almost 17, trying to explore the answer of his sexuality by refusing to have sex with his girlfriend. Does the answer is pressured by the first time sex, his gender identity, or something else? Hope we can make the world to face “sex” by the short film, and ponder upon point of Gender Equality Education.
