This thesis mainly aimed at exploring the developmental thread of a series of creative works “The Spectacles of Taiwan” by the author. He believed that the process of artistic creation could be considered as both the process and way of seeking the identity. Hence, through the practice of art creation and composition of this thesis, he attempted to explore the course of his cultural identity. On the basis of the method of cultural identity that the Taiwanese artists had employed since the 90s and the questions of identity that had been touched by the phenomena of Tai-Ke, created by the Taiwanese culture industry, he intended to connect the atmosphere of seeking the Taiwanese subjectivity and ideology after the end of the martial law in Taiwan. Moreover, the popular visual form of kitsch in the 90s and its link to the Taiwanese cultural identity was also discussed. In addition, this thesis also discussed the artistic form and its relation to the author’s cultural identity and how it further built the path of constructing his cultural identity.
