For most contemporary composers, the act of writing music can be considered as a process for search, reflection, and innovation. They tend to express their spiritual affections and inner thoughts.
This thesis consists of four chapters. In the first, “The beginning of creation” , I review the process of cognizing music which eventually leads to composing of which synesthesia can be a part. The second chapter, “The process of my composing”, I concentrate on the reasons why I consider improvisation as essential as written composition. In the next chapter, “My musical language”, I present some stylistic characteristics of my music. In the last chapter, I then further analyze the structure of my percussion quartet, “The Story of Pearl Milk Tea”.
