This statement focuses mainly on my artistic creation during the years from 2010 to 2014. The idea for my art came from my own conflict in between my imaginative ideal and the real world, but I found that making art should become a temporary mend for me to flee away the reality. Frankly speaking, my art is my intent of escape.

Based on methods of synthetic and conclusive analysis and self-reflection, I tried to comb out the clear treads of thought, ideas and expressive states inside my art. Basically, my theoretical discussion is ground on the theories of Deleuze, Bergson and some other related philosophers that is directed to analyze my spiritual longing and desire to escape the consciousness-and-the reality entangling state. The whole process of making art is, therefore, structured on a situation of struggling in-between those down-to-earth concerns and the utopian world for psychological comforts. The result is that my artworks can be roughly categorized into two clusters: “Landscape of the Consciousness” and “Map of the Consciousness”. The former is revolving around the descriptive presentation of an ideal world, while the latter about the disaffection of the real world as if the painting is viewed from high up in the air.

After going through this long process of creating and analyzing my art, I found I had been, somehow, too emotional and sensational to make my art more rational or approachable for other people. Thus, I believe I need more practice to strengthen the solid foundation and strong structure of my art.
