國立臺灣藝術大學 / 廣播電視學系碩士班 / Author:Yang, Yu-Huei

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that patient's bodies are unable to produce insulin, people with this disease need to live life with a syringe. Many children have this disease when they are very small. In the club of T1DM, all the parents want to do more for their kids. Whether in action or spiritual, they measure blood sugar every night, help children prepare nutritionally balanced meals, and participate in activities and so on. Regardless of how long the child morbidity, every time they think about the bitterness, they still cried like children. T1DM youth always are told that they are "same as everyone else". Therefore they are more actively to try new things. They also tend to feel overly protective by parents. So, when they are told not to do things because of the physical condition, they will be particularly against, and are easy to fall into a sad mood.

When the children in the disease association grow up into teenagers, after entering the society, what they have to face is the more complicated relationships. Lots of patients are reluctant to disclose their illness to their supervisor and colleagues, there is even patient who got dismissed because she had informed the illness, she is one of the protagonist of this film, Zhang Yin Jing. After these happened to her, I am much more determined my thought to record the whole things. For this reason, the documentary【The Little Honey Bear】was born.

Someone once told me that, only a film with sincerity which can move people. No matter how good the production technology is. I have always believed in with that, the lack of sincerity, then this movie is just a beautiful shell. I put this film as a personality travel, from the early planning, I have been back and forth on the Banqiao, Taichung and Taoyuan. I have taken countless high-speed rail and bus. From the fight for sponsorship, to carrying luggage and shooting equipment by myself, as well as the final post-production editing and presentation. I only hope that after people watched this film, they will feel the warmth and be stronger. So I decided to dedicate this film to all T1DM patients and their families. Which I care about most is our happiness.
