In this paper, the documentary film "Toward the Sun: The Story of Atayal Klesan" was created to document the migration of ethnic groups in Atayal Klesan, the traditional culture Gaga and the changes.

Over the past century, Atayal Klesan people had been compelled to migrate to specifically designated zones at the hands of different regimes. At the last migration in the early twentieth century, Atayal Klesan people reached the ocean and put a new complexion on their traditional hunting culture. Although the norms of Gaga still remains, Atayal Klesan’s new generation have been struggling to keep their culture and trying to find a way forward. Therefore, this film, by recording the cultural feature of Atayal Klesan community, aims to convey a creative, optimistic and diligent Atayal Klesan’s lifestyle to the world. Also, this film shows the “new feature of Atayal” between the Han and Indigenous, and the Eastern and Western, a new indigenous lifestyle in the in the 21st century.
