The creation of art comes from experiences in life, and is influenced by human senses and perceptions. My creation "Life is Dream" is a work of painting and calligraphy. For my research, I collected and analyzed relevant literature, and drew on the theories and aesthetics of traditional painting and calligraphy. To refine my research, and to make my creation more inclusive, I studied the works of previous artists. Going deeper into mind and emotions, I managed to discover the meaning of self-existence, and manifest the interaction between reality and dream, which constitutes my work.

Where do I exist, in reality or dream, being real or unreal? These are my core existential issues. To structure my research, I relied on the French philosopher Rene Descartes’ "I think, therefore I am," and the Chinese Laozhuang's viewpoints on "floating life" and "dream."

Persisting in both creative ideas and practice, I created four series of works. The ink painting has two series: "Floating" delicately drew the bitter and sweet of life; "Construction" portrayed the state in a dream world in relation to the idea that space will constantly overlap, fold, and expand. The two series of calligraphy see "Drunken Ink" and “Emotional Rhythm.” The former used rather few characters, depicting the scenery of the sky and the earth after entering the dream. The latter used the content of words and the division of images to represent the bond between reality, memories and dreams, giving various experiences in life.
