Image science and technology incorporate the discussion image on the creation of music to apply to fifth grade primary school music composition as the example picture with Hyperscore

【Abstract】

The purpose of this research is to explore how image technology software could assist music composition. Courses are planned by using Hyperscore 3.9 as major software to help students compose music. Other software, i.e. Finale, Overture, are facilitated afterwards to convert image into score for music storing and composed experience sharing. This study is attempted to lower the obstacle for traditional forms of composition through the assistance of computer music software, as well as to increase children’s interests and resources in music creativity.

Based on the characteristics of Hyperscore 3.9, a general guideline of grade 1-9 curriculum of elementary and junior high school education, and theories of music composition, this project is primarily developed for the fifth-grade elementary students. Four units of the course, which include 22 lessons in 11 weeks, are: “Experience of Image Technology in Music Software”, “Sketch Book of Music”, “Musical File Folder”, and “Celebration of Achievement”. This research conducts literature review, action research, teaching experiment, and analysis of children’s composition. Suggestions and recommendations are provided as well from this research results.
