The main theme of the animation, Dawn Rising, is about anti-war. By using high

contrast visuals to express the cruelty of war, this animation intends to remind the

society about the importance of anti-war. This paper also briefly discusses the

development of war animation and anti-war animation through case studying, and

analyzing the visuals and narratives used in these two opposite genres. While war

animations promote patriotism, intending to lead viewers to support government’s

pro-war policies; anti-war animations, on the other hand, focus on calling attention to

world peace.
