Drawing line of Self-identity: Shih Pei Yu’s Ceramic Creation's Cover

Temporarily unlisted

Satisfying others' expectations has been the frame I have given to myself for many years. I can only identify with myself through the affirmation of others. Taking “frame” as an inspiration to create and explore the relationship between frame and people. My series of works: “Going to The Frame”, “In This Frame” and “Where We Are”, thinking about the meaning of the frame to ourselves, in order to find self and further increase self-confidence. I use the metaphors and surreal expressions to increase more interest and richness. Metaphor is a way of presenting things you want to say by transformed symbols; surreal expression is the way of emphasizing subconscious, free and unconstrained subjects, and also the way that I have attempted to break through previous creation method. I added interactivity to the work in order to reduce the distance with viewers. Creating art is a perceptual and constant self-thinking behavior. After finishing my works, I finally realized that the tied of the frame was not important. The most important is that how do we accept ourselves, recognize the value of existence, and embrace the self-confidence. At last, we are truly out of the box.
