This Creation Thesis is titled "Creative Transformation of Cloud", which focuses on a series of oil painting creations of clouds drawn by the artist during his graduate studies. It represents the transformation of the artist's works from undergraduate to graduate studies. The series of works will be examined and organized through the theoretical background of the formal representation of clouds in art history.

In the development history of oil painting from the 15th century to the present for more than six hundred years, clouds are often seen in landscape paintings containing the sky. However, there are few studies on the formal representation of clouds in oil painting. In the historical process of oil painting development, we can often see its realistic, expressive, and symbolic forms of expression. Clouds using realistic and expressive techniques in oil painting are also the most common, but the symbolic technique is what I am interested in and worth studying. The series of creation is also transformed between realistic, expressive, and symbolic for this subject of clouds. In general, it is necessary to study the creation of " Creative Transformation of Cloud " in oil painting.

When the artist began studying oil painting during the period of undergraduate, he focused on landscape sketching and was passionate about depicting nature scenes. It is very interesting to look up at the sky on a clear day, to see the flowing puffy clouds, and then ponder for a long time. The artist has expressed self-emotions through sketch the nature a series of landscape creation since his undergraduate period. Manifest artist vision through the combination of the artist's self, the oil painting material, and the landscape, until the graduate stage, The artist needed to transform the previous creative form, and cloud theme was most interested in and wanted to study.

The artist draws from the lineage of art history to analyze and compare the characteristics and meanings of clouds in three different categories of expression, based on the works of masters of specific styles from the traditional and modern periods. Then, combined with artist own works, the artist explores the similarities and differences between the objectively existing clouds and his own works.Analyzing the artist's inspiration from nature and how to create a transformation for the cloud, we can learn from it the expression technique, form, and language of the subject of clouds in oil painting creation, which will provide inspiration for our oil painting creation about clouds in the future and seek more possibilities for the development of the artist’s "Floating Clouds as Mental Imagery" series creation.
