The word “disguise” illustrates how common people associate themselves to the world. This form of association is like a mask; covering the true self, while presenting the elegant yet formulistic attitude which formed a barrier between self and the outer world and disintegrated the original bond in between. Undergoing the different experiences in life is like participating in a “play” which the self is the main character, and the society acts as the background of the stage.

  Everyone who has a foothold on the real world has his/her own face of disguise; it is varnished to assist one to stream in the complex social network. Within this game which everyone is born to play, each of us manipulates a character named “self”. However, people tend to show off only the shallow shell of external appearance when the internal consciousness usually stands on a contradicting ground. The true thought ends up hidden in the backstage, homeless like a shadow that is being stripped from the real object.

  The thesis demonstrates how individuals set their identity in the society through discussing the concept of disguise. The perspective is based on the generation where the writer is currently in, alongside provides detail observation of the society’s flow and self-reflections. The series of artwork concretized the key theme through contrasts between faces and masks, the imagery of clowns, and collages of irrational figures. The mixture of digital medias and traditional hand paintings aided to construct the conflict between reality and illusion, which further enhanced the theme.
