This research is mainly discussing how the Baroque Sonata form was applied in Prokofiev’ s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in D major, Opus 94bis. It’ s composed of four chapters, including the origination and evolution of the Baroque Sonata, the comparison of the composing backgrounds and editions, the formal analysis, and conclusion. The research focus on the difference of the formal structure applied by Baroque and twentieth century composers.
