This thesis consists of five chapters: The first one is the introduction of the research motivation and purpose, and scope. The second discusses the building elements of interactive computer music composition “Family Catastrophe”, including depicting the inspiring source of creation - the introduction of Shakespeare's tragedy " King Lear ," the definition, the origin and the genres of electro-acoustic music, and also how it is applied to the modern forms of performance. The third chapter explains the application of interactive computer music technology in the work of "Family Catastrophe", discussing the software and hardware system structure of the live performance of this work, and the related techniques of creation. The fourth chapter is the analysis of the work " Family Catastrophe ". The fifth chapter is the conclusion, reflection and future prospect of this thesis.
