This thesis discusses how to interpret the precise styles of Tchaikovsky’s“The Variations on a Rococo Theme”. This piece has two different versions. One is Tchaikovsky original version, the other is Fitzenhagen rearranged version. This text takes the upper two versions to make the comparison in order to interpret this master piece.

This dissertation is divided into the following three main sections. The first, arranging some requirements of International Music Competition. Secondly, introducing the rococo style, then comparing the distinction between “rococo” and “ rococo style”, afterward, it describes the background that Tchaikovsky wrote this music, and closely related cellist’s information, and then comparing the dissimilar place of this two versions. Finally, making the individual interpretation on the basis of the fundamental version.
