During the nearly thirty years that Haydn worked at the Esterházy court, he produced a great number of compositions that were most of the needs as the house office. His musical style continued to develop for his own favorites rather than commissions after he left Esterházy. The works of 13 Partsongs contained sacred and secular themes. In the creation of 13 Partsongs, musical style had been treated differently to express humor, irony, sincereness and precision. According to his works, Haydn not only foresaw the Classic German chorus music, but also influenced the development of the Romantic German choral music in 19th Century.

This thesis consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction of research purpose, contents and methods. The second part describes Haydn’s life, musical style of his late life and Haydn’s unique innovation to convey the compositional background of Aus des Ramlers Lyrischer Blumenlese was. The third part used the analyses of musical form, tonality, harmony and the utilization of theme melodies. Each one of the 13 Partsongs was illustrated separately. The last part of this thesis researched the Classical ways of performance practice to claim the appropriate interpretation.
