Abstract
Memory occupies how much weight among getting along with other peoples ultimately?
In this film “Take me home!,” the director asks this question frankly to herself from the bottom of her heart: the great impact of disappearance of memory to our daily life when our relatives have suffered from senile dementia. This film starts with the memories that grandmother and granddaughter both remembered, tracing back to those beautiful times through scrutinizing mutual memories. The whole film with a style of documentary and realistic writing, presents the outline of this whole story through the mutual memories from her and her grandmother. Through the different sections of intersection from life, this film describes the impact; struggling and mental transformation after a little girl has grown up to life by the disappearance of memories.
This is not only a report of creative work, but also a profound brief sketch of daily life for the author. She wants to arouse different concept and imagination of memory by sharing this film to others on account of the impact of her relative encountered such kind of disease. She has uncountable memories with her grandmother even though her grandmother may not remember anything. And her grandmother’s attitude continues very uncertain, which makes the author feel helplessness and fidgety. But those “remembered” emotion deep down in her heart which makes her to cherish the remaining time with her grandmother and walk on the land which her grandmother used to step on. Therefore, she wants to capture and memorize those fade away memories by way of filming daily life between grandmother and granddaughter with the recording characteristic of film.
This thesis is composed of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the origin of creations of this script and the transformation of her inner feeling. The second chapter, documents discussion, explains the impact and current condition of grandparenting and dementia to our modern society. Chapter three, description of creations, explains the framework and keynote of creations of this whole film. Chapter four, execution method of creations, records the process of making this film. The last chapter, performance and conclusion, expresses the impact and response to those who has viewed this film and concludes her personal impressions.
The script of film, expenditure, time table, seminar after the preview, and a script of word by word are in the appendices. In addition, the difficulties she has encountered and the resolution to those difficulties. May this experience serve as a reference for her creative works in the future.
