Raised metal containers condense the sensation of consciousness, much like the perceptive cortex in spirit. The individual is able to sense the compatible and resistant self and the external world through it. The reaction stimulated from the external is presented in the condition of cortex through the forms of metal, including inflation, contraction, confinement, corrugation and so on. The process reflects how metal becomes after it is effected by other forces.

The thesis starts with the transformation of “energy-motion-form” and the analysis of my creation process in terms of body schema. At first, I was inspired by the accidental effect of corrugation caused by raising to conduct experiments of media. Later on, I started to grasp the characteristics of material and developed my own style. At the same time, the creation also aims to discuss the meaning of corrugation in the aspect of material and mentality. For instance, the cause of how corrugation forms, the characteristics of metal, the effect that the power works on the object, the antithetical tension of the internal and the external, the conflict between individuals and so on. Therefore, corrugation becomes a memory, in which all the feelings and thoughts are recorded in the process of raising.

The creation includes three series – “confinement,” “contraction” and “corrugation.” “Confinement” intends to show the constraint and contradiction which lie in our daily life; “contradiction” is the reaction after stimulation, such as the instinct reaction caused by subtle feelings; “corrugation” is the accumulation of material in time and space. Although corrugation is the part of carrier (container), it has come up from the role of accessory to be the main character. Raising is the main technique for the creation, which connects the cortex of spirit through the form of metal, making raising metal containers become the concretized sensation for consciousness.
