Memory is an important motivation of human behavior. Without memory, people

cannot recognize and cogitate. Therefore, when memory scenes show up in movies, they usually present the relationship between memory and reality in a non-linear narrative.

The current study focuses on the presentation of relationship between memory and emotions as well as the scriptwriting in non-linear narratives. To understand the features of memory, first, I collect and analyze the data related to human memory, and then offer a thorough exploration of long-term memory. Simultaneously, as to the requirement of scriptwriting, it is necessary to study non-linear narratives. Then, I study the techniques taking advantage of the use of non-linear narratives and the presentation of memory in movies by analyzing three films showing the memory scenes in the non-linear manner. Also, I list the features of non-linear narratives by charts and diagrams.

In a word, my study indicated that multiple tempo-spatial structure is a commonly used mode of scriptwriting, which is intertwined with different modes so as to increase richness in the narration. Finally, I will create my film according to the results concluded through the exploration.
