The topic of this research paper is a study of Paul Hindemith’s <Der Schwanendreher for Viola and Small Orchestra>. Chapter one states the goal and the method of this research. The following chapter introduces the life and composition of Hindemith. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of this concerto, followed by the discussion of the performance techniques in the next chapter. The final chapter is the conclusion.

Paul Hindemith is an all- around musician. He was among the mostrepresentative composers in the 20th Century.<Der Schwanendreher>has already become one of the classics in the viola repertoire of all time. Hopefully the wonders of this masterpiece are revealed in some way through this research.
