The Analysis and Interpretation of Paul Hindemith Sonata for Horn and Piano in F (1939)

Paul Hindemith(1895-1963) composed Sonata for Horn and Piano in F in 1939, the

motivations is combined in many way in music, it is a important work for horn in

Neo-classicism. Hindemith was an important composer with strong personal style,

who was growing from a period of 20th century classical music in the 20th century.

He composed methods which combined with Baroque, Classical style and the

harmony of 20th century classical music. This style was summarized as Neo

classicism., he was called “Bach of the 20th century” by later generations.

This paper will be divided into three parts for discussion and sharing. The Frist is

“Composer's Life and Style” to understand the composer's thoughts and

characteristics when he was creating music. The Second is “Works Analysis” analyze

the composition techniques to assist the understanding of the music. The Third is

“Music Interpretation”. Be combined the first two parts, thinking about the

appropriate style, so that performance can used suitable skills at pheases.
