Summary

Since many silk-copied books were being discovered at Ma Wang Duei in 1973, this location has been named as the treasure of the underground library. Appealing the experts from different realm to study it from vary aspects, such as literary, lecture, history, and character. However, there are only few scholars having their research through the pure art of calligraphy. Besides, the whole research is not yet being well developed.

The main point of this thesis is the combination of analyzing Art’s sentimental and inductive Science’s logical. From the calligraphy art’s aspect, I make use of the digitize data bank to further study “Zong Hen Clique” vary traits.

Mainly include:

A. This book‘s basic knowledge’s set up: Including silk-copied book’s style and form, the original contents, the written era, and the writing tools.

B. This book’s character trait: Overall investigation on characters’ structure and traits，characters’ evolvement，similar characters，ancient characters，equal character，and error character

C. Analyzing the brush usages’ techniques: Including analyze the tip of the writing brush with the line’s texture, strokes’ arch and slant, strokes’ association, and than further study cursive part with the growth of the cursive, and vary switching ways.

D. The single character’s structure and style: Including the single character’s variation in space & density, the center gravity of the character, vary structures & representative combinations inductive, structure’s motive form.

E. Line’s moral, composite, and ink’s shadow: Including investigate the writer, the writing style, variation of the composite’s axis, composite’s density & distant & ink shadow’s exploration.

Main Conclusions:

A. The characters’ specialty: It concludes the ancient Chu character; it appears in an unstable era. Many similar characters, ancient characters，equal character，and error character are popping up rapidly.

B. Specialty of its’ brush using technique: Most of them seems circle-like, but contain some sting-like brush usage. It started to have Li characters specialty, most of its chore goes down, and the slope is mostly horizontal, one word between another started to have connection, which could find out it’s evolve gradually.

C. Specialty of the character’s structure and style: Most of the characters were written in length, up and left were mostly bustling. The words combination between each other is an important trait.

D. Traits of the line’s moral, composite, and ink’s shadow: This silk-copied book was at least copied down by three different people. The first one have the most extreme variation in the line’s moral, composite, and ink’s shadow.
