In my first year of postgraduate, my father passes over due to illness. By the animated film “Silent Love”, I wish to present the love of father to children; one is to carry on such concepts and for me to reflect the olden day’s memories to my father. The first chapter of the thesis describes the background of creation, the motive and goal, the thoughts of creation, father-daughter relationship, and my life experience backward to death. In the second chapter, study the contemporary hand drawn style animation, and the technique of digital hand drawn animation. The third chapter is about the content and method for creation, which includes the storyboard, the art setting, and producing processes of digital hand drawn animation. In the forth chapter, the production of “Silent Love” is, in a way, an important documentary record of my experiences. This is the first time I undertake the production of such an animation drama. Four years of studies of mine have lent a support to its accomplishment. Through the analyses and organization of each part of this animation, I hope to generalize an applicable working process as reference for individual producer of animation.
