The discourse “Traveling - Memory Impression” was created by the exploration and publication of the process and result of my own artwork during 2014 ~ 2016, when I was taking Master of Arts in Printmaking. The personal creation motive and practice were reviewed from different angle; the personal creation concept and problems were completely elaborated by the essay.
I took my personal nostalgic feeling as the start point. In the process of going back and forth between Homeland and Foreign Land, ruminating the relationship of self and others; I see the harmonious and contradiction between me and the environment from different angle.Furthermore, I use the fragmentary moments among creation and writing essays to express emotions when I figured out my personal contradiction and spiritual process.
Thus, I begin with the theme: Traveling - Memory Impression, through the images in memory, Itransfer them to real visit. I created the whole series of work from the walk and record my internal transformation and interpretation.
From the work inspiration, creation procedure and the practice, the essay is divided into five chapters. First chapter: Introduction, describe the research motive, purpose, creative research method and steps. As well as the scope of creative research.
Second chapter: Theoretical Basis, provide theoretical basis to further discuss the thread of thought for the self-creation. There are three sub-section in the chapter. First section: to explain the connection between “Homeland” and “Foreign Land”; second section: to elaborate the connection between Ecole de Paris and I; third chapter: describe the concept and practice of sketching.
Third chapter is the practice of Creative Research, to elaborate the creation idea and creation media. Fourth chapter the interpretation of creation, elaborating the results of creation. Fifth chapter: Conclusion, the integration and description for standpoints in previous chapters.
