This thesis consists of three parts: (1) the program notes of the “Solo Recital” written by the researcher (2) the program notes of the “Performance Recital” written by the researcher (3) the research paper presented by the researcher in the“ Graduate Students’ Conference”.

The program of the Solo Recital includes: D. Scarlatti《Piano sonata in E Major, K. 380》、《Piano sonata in f minor, K. 19》、《Piano sonata in G Major, K. 547》, L. v. Beethoven《Sonata in E-flat Major, Opus 81a“ Les adieux”》, R. Schumann《Papillons, Op. 2》, E. Grieg《Lyric Pieces, Op. 12, No. 1-3》.

The program of the Performance Recital includes: L. Bizet《 Jeux d'enfants, Op. 22, No. 1、2、3、4、9、11》for piano 4 hands, G. Faure 《Dolly Suite, Op. 56》for piano 4 hands, F. Schubert《Sonata in A Minor for Arpeggione and Piano, D. 821》.

The topic of the research paper being “A Preliminary Study on the first movement of L. v. Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in E-flat Major, Opus 81a ‘Das Lebewohl’ ”. This paper consists of six chapters: a preface, an introduction to the composer's life and works, historical background of “sonata”, the stylistic development of Beethoven’s Sonatas, the composition background of “Sonata in E-flat Major, Opus 81a‘Les adieux’”, musical analysis of the composition.
