"The Pool Man" is a story about a fat boy who is inferiority complex longing for love; a national swimmer struggling to retain past glory. How will they inspire each other and head for a better life?

This Short film deals with the story of some nobodies helplessly trapped in their living circumstances using a composed, objective and comic approach. The narrative is based on survival and love, two of the most essential elements in one''s life. In a small swimming pool named the "Big Ocean," a fable about "feeling trapped" and "struggling to set free" takes place. I hope that this film shows the predicaments, helplessness and self-reflections of Taiwan as it is often rejected by the international community.

This eassy attempts to ezamine the script of "The Pool man" with classic paradigm, three-act structure and genre of comedy. On the other hand, by the discuss of genre, tone, photography, lighting, art decoration and performance, we could build up the style and aesthetics of "The Pool man".
