Inspired by the author's childhood experiences, this project seeks to depict the inner conflicts teenagers have growing up. The animation takes viewers on a journey to experience the stories of different characters and will be able to think about what it means to become an adult.
The research will be divided into three major parts, the first of which discusses factors that influence teenagers' personalities and obstacles between the social community and self-recognition. The second part focuses on hybrid animation, a useful and widely-used film-making technique combining 2D and 3D animation. Its history, production process, and practical applications will be introduced briefly. In the third part, animations and movies with the theme of teenagers seeking their self-identities through heroic journeys have been collected and a comparison will be conducted between how they shape their characters' fears and how these characters overcome their weaknesses so as to move forward. The concluding chapter will present the complete version of the animation and the author's reflection.
