Sleepwalking

The most important element of a city has always been people. Through an abstract scene, Sleepwalking mainly describes a day of sleepwalkers. Their movements in the city and their steps have taken them up and down. When watching the comers and goers, you can feel they are acting a certain moment of themselves and sleepwalking unconsciously. Maybe their brains ask them to do so, and proceeding in an unmatched time and space.And this is how Sleepwalking been created.

There are four parts in the film, which are the bedroom, the street, the gathering place and the workplace. The bedroom is where the sleepwalker starts his day. It is a private space belongs to him. It is both peaceful and lonely. The second part takes place in the street, which you first seen when you step out of the door. Although it is so crowded, you know nobody. The bustling street smells unfamiliar. The gathering place is an open space, but with companions. It is a harmony and warm place. The sleepwalker has a moment of happiness in the third part. The workplace is filling with conflict. People who need to work in group, also have conflict interests. This film will show different emotions in each part through tones, music, abstract symbols and different animation skills.

It is three minutes length film. Film by FUJIFILM X10with Full HD. Sleepwalking is an experimental animation, including skills like hand drawn animation, cut out animation and stop-motion animation. Combine the animation with real scenes to present a concept of real and imaginary. By overlapping the images and other animation skills, express the sleepwalker’s complicated feeling.
