Felix Mendelssohn is one of the most important composers during the romantic period. He’s also an excellent pianist and conductor. Like his happy and joyful life, his music style is mostly lively and exquisite. There are only two published piano concertos in his lifetime, one is the G minor piano concerto, op.25 and the other is D minor piano concerto, op.40.

This thesis is based on the first piano concerto G minor piano concerto, op.25, which he finished and premiered in Munich in 1831. In following five chapters, the first chapter introduces the motivation and purpose of the research and the research methods and scope. The second chapter is about composer's life and music career development and the background of the G minor piano concerto, op.25. The third chapter is musical analysis. The fourth chapter is music interpretation. The final chapter is conclusion. In the chapter of the music interpretation, the author shares his own experience of playing the work, explaining the practice methods, analyzing various skills and thinking about music interpretation.
