The subject of the study was the creation of the blend style calligraphy. Started with defining the name, the core of the blend style calligraphy was explored afterward. Documents concerning the style from China and Japan, from different periods of time, were thoroughly studied, and different artists’ blend style works were carefully analyzed. The creation patterns of the art thus emerged.

Four Blend style creation patterns were concluded: Firstly, a blend of character patterns. Secondly, a blend of a character pattern and the way of writing. Thirdly, a blend of character patterns and the ways of writing. Fourthly, a blend of character patterns and methods of the use of ink and water. Based on these four patterns, the researcher tried to create visual calligraphy style works which contained characteristic forms, styles and aesthetic of modern calligraphy with the expounding of the concept of creation, the style and the techniques. The purpose of the study was to apply those theories into practice.

The art form, Blend Style Calligraphy, was influential and eloquent. It fitted in with the tendency in pursuit of aesthetic of the visual calligraphy style in most morden exhibition rooms. The study tried to persuade more calligraphers to explore the mentioned field, and a new way for the change and creation of modern calligraphy was suggested.
