This paper focuses on the various orchestral seating. The researcher first explored the historical development of orchestral seating, which started from the petit concerts held in palaces in the 18th century. Through time, due to factors such as the improvements on instruments, and the expansion of musical instruments of the symphony orchestra, and the utilization of different musical instruments and concert halls and the increase in the number of performers, it has transformed into a large-scale symphony orchestra, and even the addition of vocal. And discussion detail on five categories of instruments, strings, wind, percussion, harp and other instruments, and choir.

In response to the needs of four different performance venues: shoebox-shaped concert hall, proscenium stage, vineyard hall, and orchestra pit, and different orchestral seating of different types of performances such as symphony works, symphony with chorals, off stage, altogether with the researcher's practical work experience and illustrations, sums up a logical orchestral seating plan and a systematic installation sequence.

The researcher participated in stage work of the symphony orchestra since studying at the university, and realized that the works of different periods and different conductors have many arrangements of orchestral seating. With practical work, the researcher presents a deeper understanding of the practice of music performance, making it more convenient for conductors or stage managers to setup an orchestra for performance.
