Abstract

Jean Hubeau（1917-1992）was a famous musician in the twentieth century.

Although the Sonata for Trumpet and Piano is the only trumpet work, but it was well received by the trumpet player favorite works.

This thesis contains five chapters. Chapter one presents research motivation , purposes and research procedure. Chapter two presents his biography and his musical works. Chapter three analyzes the Sonata for Trumpet and Piano, focusing on the musical form and traits of tonality. Chapter four, based on the analysis in Chapter tree, provides artistic conception of this work, which the composer wants to convey. Chapter five, conclusion and suggestions are stated based on the content of the previous chapters.
