Through exploring and observing details in daily life, the artist discovers “switches” both tangible and intangible within it that triggers experiences and emotions. The statement uses the concept of “resonance” as a metaphor, which transforms subtle impressions into contemporary jewelry and evolves into three series to elaborate its point of view:
“Traction of a Line” uses a transformation of a tool, a knot, as the original “switch” of mankind. Tying a knot means to “lock up” and untying it with an awl means to “unlock” it. Knots are also used as symbols for event recording.
“Traces of Daily Life” transforms common “switches” in homes, such as doors, windows, and buckles, and combines them with earplugs and electrical resistances to convey the idea of blocking and obstructing something in a lively way.
“Crossway of Time and Space” is inspired by travel journals. It portrays the gathering of and the switching among time and places, and the setting of one’s role in each of them makes a self-defining switch, representing each key that could unlock the unknown and lead to the unexplored.
Overall, the artist seeks to analyze ways of presenting and to explore the thought of “resonance” by means of symbols and collage.
