The thesis used photography of montage as a technique to create fear images. To express fear, I explored the psychology of horror by document analysis and case study of several photographer. As a part of Z generation, I choose "the phenomenon of overusing technology" as a theme. By continuous absorption of the research, I finally developed into the context of works: mainly two series "Made-by-Human Nature" and "The counter-attack". The series are divided into two complementary themes with total 9 works of " Made-by-Human Nature" and six works of " The counter-attack ", added up to fifteen works. Not only using photography as a method, I combined with the application of technological installations to integrate time and space into creation. I hope to be the person who takes a mirror up to the viewers and evoke their inner emotions by the montage images.
This thesis provides a new thinking path in images to both viewers and creators. By combining the research of uncanny valley and the topic of social phenomenon, I expressed what I thought to the modern technology and left a weird atmosphere in the viewers mind. In terms of creative form, the use of montage technique by combining multiple images provided a developmental mode of image creation and a broader perspective view of photographic montage art in Taiwan.
