This thesis is to discuss about author’s two series of work during graduate school including “Topology of Time and Space” and “Unstable states”. These two series are made by water as major material to express author’s concepts. In the series of “Topology of Time and Space”, it seals with layers of iced nature plants and fruits, and large dyed ice pillars. These iced materials are melted discretionarily in many kinds of man-man or natural environments. These colorful fruits with natural pigments will decay with time to reflect the ephemerality of all things in universe. All these beautiful things will return to basic elements and back to earth. These basic elements will then compose of different new materials in nature environment. This forms a natural cycle as water cycle.

In the series of “Unstable States”, it includes space installation to present the change of state-of-matters due to the flow of energy in universe. The author makes the audiences to feel these changes with stimulating their senses. During the process of blue ice turning into water, there exits lot of tiny and hard-to-find traces and alterations. During the entropy increase process of ice receiving heat to turn into water, it make many kind of changes in time and space. This dynamic process encompass of vibration, shifting, deformation and diffusion. All the traces and sounds from this process are chaotic , unpredictable, spiritual and energetic.

All the graphic arts are made by the process from adding pigment in freezing ices, placing these ices on many adherable surfaces to record the traces and changes of melting ices, and diffusing spontaneously into shapes. Many factors as the moisture and temperature of the air , and micro dusts will affect the process of drying the water into rich patterns. These patterns sometimes look like annual rings or layers of sea waves or waxing and waning of the moon. The whole process are organic and spiritual. This reflects the rule about how the world is working. It also inspire the author to accept all the destinated natural changes as all ups and downs in life. Observing the delicate and tiny changes in water traces and alternations, audiences could feel the tranquilness of time and borderless of space. The authors’ works will keep going to explore the mysterious and dynamic linkage between material and energy to enlighten personal view about life and concept of animism.
