Black humor is an artistic expression derived from Western culture. It can be presented through not only words and dialogues, but also visual images, tones, or sense of rhythm through lens editing. Collecting great amount of information is also required in order to elevate the level of creation.
The creation of "Nudge", a 3D animated short film about cyberbullying, is based on black humor. First of all, the literature section starts with discussing the origin and definition of black humor, and respectively explaining the manifestations and artistic expression of black humor. Next, taken the issues of modern Internet society as a starting point, the study includes the observation of the relationship between netizens' mentality, Internet phenomena, and victims. Last but not least, analyzing relevant animation text helps develop and extend the ideas and content of the creation.
The story mainly presents in three aspects, including the bully, the bullied, and the bystander, and takes A-meow, the protagonist, facing all kinds of unreasonable bullying as the main storyline. The audience seems to be watching all these tragedies across the screen. By presenting disharmonious pictures, prompting the audience to reflect and examining their own online behavior are the main purpose of the story.
Black humor and Internet elements are integrated in this creation to design the plot and animation. Furthermore, the problems encountered during the process of the creation have been listed out. It is hoped that the content of this creation will be able to give future creators the experience of creating related types of animation.
