Marimba's solo work “Variations on Porgy and Bess”, wrote by french marimba solist Eric Sammut, was adapt from George Gershwin’s opera “Porgy and Bess” in 1935. Sammut choose three songs from opera to be main themes of marimba work, “summertime”, “this is not necessary”, and “I love you, Porgy”. Sammut’s adapted technique, and how to playing the work, are main research issue in this paper.
