A Study and Interpretation of Mozart 《Bassoon Concerto K. 191》 Arranged for Double Bass and Piano

The research object of this paper, focus on the double bass version of Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto. After demonstration the primitive motive and method in the beginning chapter, the author introduce briefly about the Mozart and his concertos for wind and string instruments at the second chapter. Following chapter three and four are the discussions of performance practice, interpretation, and the comparison of the three existing versions of this transcribed concerto for double bass and piano.

In order to have a more in-depth insight into Mozart’s K.191, the author started by studying the bassoon, an instrument that the author was not familiar with, hoping to interpret this work more accurately. And then the author can clearly know how the wind instrument techniques can be used on string instrument for producing similar effects, this is the general idea of this paper.
