Abstract

This paper is to explore the poem and music of Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) on “Gedichte von Eduard Mörike”, which is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to explain the research motivation, purpose, scope and method. The second chapter is about the growth background and important deeds of musician Wolf, moreover, to summarize Wolf’s works that the creation features and techniques. The third chapter is to explore the growth background of the Mr. Mörik and the style of poetry collection, furthermore, draws up the poem theme of “Gedichte von Eduard Mörike”. The forth chapter is to choose five different styles of songs from the work, regarding analyze the harmony and poetry of five works to understand Mr. Wolf's creative approach and the concept of music output.

The author hope this paper to explore the connotation of Wolf's lied, also a deeper understanding of the motivation, tonality and harmony conversion on this work. It is helpful to assist the cooperation with the piano accompaniment for the performance on this work, moreover, to provide this song and poetry the exactly direction of interpretation and present unique charm and style of Wolf ’s music.
